Building A Power App
What Other Options Are
There to Build a Power App?
If you click Create tab
from the Power Apps Dashboard and select Blank App, you have 3 choices:
Blank Canvas App
Canvas
applications are designed for use on mobile phones or tablets. They can also
function on desktop computers, but they display as though they are being viewed
on a mobile device. One of the advantages of Canvas apps is that you can build
them directly from a data source. Using different approaches to initiate the
process, you can automatically create a screen for Browsing, Editing, and
Viewing your information.
Blank App Based on Dataverse
They resemble Canvas Apps but are
intentionally designed to be ‘responsive,’ which means they will adjust to the
device being used and scale accordingly. The Dataverse, formerly known as CDS
or the Common Data Service, has been established using reusable table
structures found in a product called Dynamics 365. It aims to offer
ready-to-use storage and relationships that cater to typical scenarios such as Sales
or Stock Management. Instead of requiring a license for Dynamics 365, you can
utilize and access the same functionalities through a Power App and other Power
Platform Services. There could be licensing considerations when utilizing the
Dataverse for data storage from a Power App, which often makes it a secondary
choice if a Canvas App does not meet requirements.
Power Pages Website
These
websites are designed for both internal and external audiences but utilize the
same interface as a Power App. They represent the latest addition to the Power
Platform. The most straightforward type of app is the Canvas App. It's the
recommended starting point for us. It will provide you with the most knowledge
about development in Power Apps, assisting you in grasping how controls, data,
variables, and collections interact to create a cohesive experience.
