Prompting in Microsoft Security Copilot

Introduction

After setting up the Security Copilot, the prompts can be used. Prompts are the primary input Security Copilot required to generate answers that can help in security-related tasks. Promptbooks are a series of prompts that have been put together to accomplish a specific security-related task.

Use the Prompts and Promptbooks Library

Security Copilot's prompts and promptbooks library enables you to quickly leverage the platform's capabilities in a way that fits your role. The purpose of these prompts and promptbooks is to walk you through the features and capabilities that are the most pertinent to your line of work. In order to help you expedite your work and increase your productivity, the curated prompts and promptbooks offer simple access to role-based examples that get you prompting quickly.

Apply Filters

To locate the prompts and promptbooks that are most relevant, filters can be applied.  Using a variety of filters can refine search results to better fit a situation or role. Search can be customized by selecting filters according to:
  1. Roles- Examples include CISO, SOC analyst, threat intel analyst, and IT administrator.
  2. Plugins- Examples include Microsoft Defender XDR, Microsoft Threat Intelligence, and natural language to KQL for advanced hunting.

Prompts and promptbooks can also be searched by titles.

Using Prompt Library

The following steps will help in using ready-made prompts:
  1. Select Prompts and apply other applicable filters.
  2. Use the search function to find the title of a prompt or select a prompt from the library.
  3. If the prompt requires input type it in the input box.
  4. Select Send or press Enter.

Using Promptbooks Library

The promptbooks library can be accessed in following two ways:

Now choose the magnifying glass icon in the Promptbook library in the top left region of the page. Type in the first few letters of a promptbook title and wait for the results to load.

  2. Select Send or press Enter.
